DAY 24 : 8 December 2014
Lunedì (Monday) :
This morning began with a supposedly 'normal' breakfast - chocolate cake! When I asked Allegra what the special occasion was, she said it was just a normal thing, followed by "you don't do this?". So that was quite an experience in itself.
With the last day of our little long weekend, we hopped into the car and travelled a mere 2 and a half hours to the city of Salzburg, Austria! On the way, the weather changed at many times, from sun, to rain, and even a bit of snow! There was one area half way through the drive that was absolutely covered in snow, and I took some photos through the car window..
We arrived in Salzburg around 11:30am, and headed to the most popular restaurant in town where we ate some delicious Bratwurst and potatoes! Allegra and Francesca also speak German very well, so they spent the day alternating between German, Italian and English, which was confusing to say the least!
Around this time of year, Salzburg has a huge Christmas market set up in the centre of town, and decorations, trees and lights throughout the whole city! We tried some Austrian pastries, got a drink from Starbucks and did some shopping! We walked around Salzburg for a few hours, admiring all the sights, before finishing it off with some Sachertorte and a drink before heading home!

We were back in Udine by 6pm, and it's back to school tomorrow after the most fantastic weekend! I loved getting to see Austria!
